MINUTES OF THE HELPER CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The regular meeting of the Helper City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Dalpiaz at 6:00 p.m.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES August 2, 2007

 

 

Council Member Jones moved to approve the corrected minutes August 2, 2007. Council Member Buchanan seconded the motion.  Motion Carried.  Unanimous decision of the Council present.

 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON BUSINESS LICENSE FOR J & L ELITE ROOFING INC AT 460 JANET STREET.

 

Mr. Seal was not at the meeting to address the council’s questions on were materials are going to be stored.

 

Council Member Jones moved to table this until next meeting and have Mr. Seal attend the meeting and bring his contractors license.  Council Member Mascaro seconded the motion.  Motion Carried. Unanimous decision of the Council present.

WADE WILLIAMS, CITY SANITATION, DISCUSSION ON TIPPING FEE INCREASES.

 

Mr. Williams informed the council that the landfill is going to be charging a tipping fee starting October 1, 2007.  This fee would raise the residential cans $2.17 more per month and the commercial dumpsters $7.00 up to $16.00 more per month.  The council felt that the contract with City Sanitation did not address any increases therefore, the city is not responsible for the increase in charges and will follow the contracted rates.

 

Council Member Buchanan moved to adhere to the contract.  Council Member Farrell seconded the motion.  Motion Carried. Unanimous decision of the Council present.

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL WATER ISSUES.

 

Council Member Jones asked that the council permit Mayor Dalpiaz to sign the contract between, Helper City and Hansen, Allen and Luce for the design of the water line for the U.D.O.T. Colton project.  

 

 

Council Member Jones moved to approve the signing of the contract with Hansen, Allen and Luce after the city attorney review.  Council Member Farrell seconded the motion.  Motion Carried. Unanimous decision of the Council present.

 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON SWIMMING POOL PROJECT

 

Council Member Farrell told the council the hours were changing at the pool after school starts on August 21, 2007.   The pool will only be opened on the weekends and will close after Labor Day.

There being no further business Council Member Mascaro moved to adjourn.  Council Member Buchanan seconded the motion.  Motion carried. Unanimous decision by the council present to adjourn the meeting.
