MINUTES OF THE HELPER CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The regular meeting of the Helper City Council was called to order by Mayor Dalpiaz at 6:00 p.m.

 

 

 

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES – June 21, 2007. 

 

Council Member Farrell moved to approve the corrected minutes of June 21, 2007. Council Member Buchanan seconded the motion, motion carried. Unanimous decision by council present.  Council Member Armstrong was not present for this motion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON CARS PARKING ON SIDEWALK ISSUE.

 

Mayor Dalpiaz told the council that there is already an ordinance for no parking on the sidewalks and Chief Zamantakis just needs to know that the council will support the ordinance.

 

Council Member Armstrong moved to support police officers in enforcing the ordinance on parking on sidewalks.  Council Member Buchanan seconded the motion, motion carried. Unanimous decision by council present. 

 

 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON PARK EQUIPMENT.

 

Council Member Farrell was concerned with the wood on the picnic tables at the park.  Council Member Buchanan and Council Member Farrell will look into cement table tops.  

 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON UTAH FAST PASS LUNCH.

 

Mayor Dalpiaz asked the council for approval on providing a luncheon for the Utah Fast Pass.   There will be about 115 people and 30 plus cars at the Main Street Park.  The lunch will be held at the parkway pavilion and Main Street will be closed.

 

Council Member Buchanan moved to have the city sponsor the luncheon for the Utah Fast Pass in the amount of $1500.  Council Member Mascara seconded the motion, motion carried. Unanimous decision by council present. 

 

DISCUSSION AND/OR APPROVAL ON SWIMMING POOL PROJECT.

 

 

Council Member Armstrong thanked the city staff that helped in getting the pool opened.   Council Member Farrell told the council that there have been some wonderful comments on the pool. Council Member Farrell had several rules that needed to be addressed to the council.  Council Member Farrell felt that there should be no outside food after the concessions open, all pool staff should be able to swim after their shift at no charge, family passes are immediate family members only and no alcohol allowed at the pool.  Council agreed with all Council Member Farrell suggestions.  Aaron Cox, Pool Manager, gave the council some suggestions on kinds of food to serve at the pool concessions. There will be a grand opening on July 21 with free coke and hot dogs and free swimming.

There being no further business Council Member Buchanan moved to adjourn the meeting.  Council Member Mascaro seconded the motion.  Motion carried. Unanimous decision by council present to adjourn the meeting.
