    PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

The Pledge of Allegiance led by Chairman Paluso.

 

 

The regular meeting of the Helper City Planning and Zoning Commission was called to order by Chairman Paluso at 7:00 p.m.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES MARCH  19, 2008

 

Board Member Howell moved to approve the minutes for March 19, 2008.  Board Member Uncles seconded the motion.  Motion Carried.  Board Member Paluso, Uncles, and Howell, voting yes.  Board Member Boyack not present for vote.

 

 

 

 

JACOB STEELE – ADD COVERED PARKING OVER EXISTING DRIVEWAY 750 ROYAL STREET

 

Board Member Uncles moved to approve the building permit for Jacob Steele for covered parking over existing driveway at 750 Royal Street.   Board Member Boyack seconded the motion.  Motion Carried.  Board Member Paluso, Boyack, Uncles and Howell, voting yes. 

 

 

 

CARBON SCHOOL DISTRICT/DEON KNOW – LIGHTED MARQUEE AT HELPER JUNIOR HIGH

 

Deon Kone from Carbon County School District described the marquee that the school district wants to install at the north end of the school on Uintah Street.  The sign would have LED lighting, display time, temperature and advertise events.  Mr. Kone told the commission that the LED lighting is very bright and was concerned about the residents on the street having complaints.  Mr. Kone recommended that the commission drive by Mont Harmon Jr. High to see the sign they have on that property.   Board Member Uncles asked if the sign could be turned off at night.  Mr. Kone explained that this is possible and sign can be set to turn off at any set time.  Mr. Kone is going to talk to Mr. Montoya and see if he would canvas the neighborhood for input on support the marquee.

 

Board Member Uncles moved to approve the lighted marquee at Helper Jr. High School with suggestions that there be a canvas done for the input of the residents near Uintah Street and that the marquee would be turned off each night.   Board Member Howell seconded the motion.  Motion Carried.  Board Member Paluso, Boyack, Uncles and Howell, voting yes. 

 

 

 

PJ JENSEN – DISCUSSION ON PROCEDURE VIOLATIONS

 

PJ Jensen not present at meeting.

 

 

REVISE ZONING CODES – MICHAEL BRYANT

 

Michael Bryant reviewed Industrial Zone I-1.   Mr. Bryant will continue to make changes advised by commission and the Flood Plain Zone, Power & Duties will be discussed during the regular meeting on 05-21-08.

There being no further business Board Member Howell moved to adjourn.  Board Member Uncles seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  Paluso, Howell, Uncles and Boyack, voting yes.
